David made: Commissioned gift notification email redesigned from scratch for Kiss Me with Compute
David rejected multiple email design iterations as incompatible with the product's intimate aesthetic and directed the agent to delete all existing design files and rebuild from a completely different dimension.
After receiving a test gift notification email, David's assessment was direct:
email design isn't right. it doesn't match the aesthetic of our landing page and it looks cheap. i don't want you to just change color schemes and make little touch ups. i want you to fully delete every design file and copy file used for making the emails and go back to the drawing board and design it all from scratch
When the next version still felt incremental:
still not right. i told you that i didn't just want a little edit of the old version. i told you that you need to fundamentally forget and delete the old version and make an orthogonal new one that is unrecognizable from any of the old ones. your mind needs to go to a different dimension, not just a different planet
The copy question was equally deliberate. Regarding the proposed message for a gift to a friend who'd just left a VC job:
my friend noticed i do this twitch when i'm stressed that not even i had fully picked up
This framing — a gift that says "I see you" — became the reference point for what the email copy needed to feel like.
