David decided: Designed granular installer agents as four parallel specialists for different platforms
David scoped the granular non-technical installer work by commissioning four parallel codex agents specialized in different platforms and aspects of the install flow.
For the granular 'connect your AI tools' installer, David spawned four specialized codex agents covering distinct platform concerns: Claude/Claude Code product and binary research, Codex CLI/IDE research, Linux cross-distro packaging, and lifecycle semantics and signal-detection protocol design. The framing for the lifecycle agent illustrates the domain ambiguity David was designing for:
You are Agent 4: lifecycle semantics + signal detection protocol designer. Do not build or edit files... Users may be doing philosophy, physics, writing, design, learning, product strategy, research, etc. Define: what is a 'work signal', what is a 'natural stop', what local signals are available without reading/uploading full transcripts, what can be inferred from hook payloads...
The decision to treat signal detection as a separate specialist role reflects David's view that the hardest part of the granular connector is not the plumbing but knowing when to prompt the user to record something.
