David's problem: Granular firms page confuses what data is exclusive to the product
David identified that copy describing granular's hiring feature implied firms could get the same thing from Claude, missing the actual product proposition: granular has data competitors don't have.
While reviewing a draft that described granular scanning 'every layer of evidence,' David pushed back:
the thing is that this adds zero value. they can just use claude for this. the point is that we have data they dont have. granular accesses their granular profile, university transcript, public talks that they didnt submit, etc etc
And later on a specific line:
but it doesnt pull 4 layers. our product isnt a 4 layer cake. it pulls everything about that person from every corner of the internet
The problem he was naming: the firms page copy described the product as a smart aggregator of standard sources (CV, LinkedIn, transcript), when the actual competitive moat is the AI-witnessed working data that exists nowhere else and that the person never explicitly published.
