David's problem: Granular profiles are confusing to first-time visitors
David identified that people who visited his Granular profile said the idea was compelling but the actual profile was incomprehensible, prompting a full redesign to surface how he works immediately on first load.
After sharing his Granular profile at granular.work/david, David received consistent feedback that the concept resonated but the page itself was too complicated to parse:
we need to entirely redesign the granular profile page. its too complicated. when i first open granular.work/david, i need to immediately get a sense of how he works. people whove looked at my granular profile say that the idea of granular is awesome but the profiles are so confusing. it needs to be much more visual heavy.
David wanted visuals showing:
- how much he uses each tool over the last several weeks
- usage growth or change over time
- recent work
The redesign was delegated to 6 GPT-5.5 xhigh agents to brainstorm visual directions. When the first implementation came back, David rejected it immediately:
this isnt right at all. please revert everything you did RE design
The core framing he landed on was that threads (not projects) should organize the profile — with threads being granular, kerra, kissmewithcompute, ai-native-education etc. — and that the distinction between projects, threads, and themes added unnecessary taxonomy.
