David debugged: Pushed back on 'AI model laziness' as root cause for lecture notes failures

David rejected an agent's scapegoating of Gemini Flash laziness as the reason for 14 failed workspace generations, insisting on a code-level causal investigation.

After 14 out of ~60 workspace generation runs failed, an agent proposed the failures were mostly due to Gemini Flash not being thorough enough with long documents. David refused the explanation:

that explanation doesn't hold. thats not the reason, dont scapegoat. go find the real bugs.

And later:

i dont believe in uncertainty and we will not make decisions based on it. go find out the actual causal reason, not "it may have been caused by this"

The investigation ultimately found the failures broke down into specific code-level causes including unsupported MIME types being sent to Gemini, token-limit exhaustion due to missing maxOutputTokens configuration, and cache expiry. David's insistence on causal precision rather than model-blame led to actionable fixes for each category.
