David's problem: Signup onboarding complexity blocking the simplicity Kerra needs
David identified that the Kerra signup and onboarding screens had become too complex — multiple things competing for user attention on a single screen — and argued for a radically simpler one-thing-per-screen approach.
After reviewing what the onboarding privacy screen and connect screen looked like in dev, David rejected the implementation:
that page isn't right. theres so much going on. and you didnt fix the signup process. this connect screen is not the signup flow.
He stated his design principle directly:
its just way too complicated. every signup screen needs to be deeply simple. only one thing can exist on it that asks for the users attention. what youve done with the connect screen, and the onboarding screen is create something too complicated.
This framing applied across both Kerra and Granular's signup flows. David was explicit that the existing Granular connect/onboarding screens violated this principle, and that fixing them was blocking launch.
