What Granular is

Granular is a memory system for firms. It reads the email, calendar, files, and meeting notes a firm already has, builds one searchable memory of the firm's people, companies, deals, and decisions, and answers questions from that memory with a citation back to the source document for every claim.

People sign in at granular.work, open Connectors, and choose which of their own accounts Granular may read. Nothing is read until someone connects it.

How Granular uses Google account data

Granular requests read-only access. It cannot send, reply to, delete, move, or modify anything in a connected Google account, and it does not ask for any scope that would let it.

Gmail (gmail.readonly). Granular reads message headers and bodies so the firm's memory reflects what was actually agreed, decided, and promised in writing. This is what lets a question such as "where did this deal land" be answered from the thread that settled it, with a link back to that message.

Google Calendar (calendar.readonly). Granular reads events and attendees so it knows who met whom and when. This is what lets it prepare someone for a meeting from the firm's own history with the people in the room.

Google Drive (drive.readonly). Granular reads documents and their revision history so an answer can quote and cite the file it came from, and so a superseded figure is replaced by the newer one rather than sitting alongside it.

Sign-in scopes (userinfo.email, userinfo.profile). Granular reads the address and name of the account being connected, so the connection is attached to the right person and the right mailbox.

Limited Use

Granular's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used only to provide and improve the features described on this page. It is not sold, not used for advertising, and not used to train generalised artificial intelligence or machine learning models. No human reads it except with the user's explicit permission, where it is necessary for security purposes, to comply with applicable law, or in aggregated and anonymised form.

Disconnecting

A connection can be removed at any time from Connectors inside Granular, or from the Google account's own third-party access settings. Removing a connection stops all further reading and removes that source from the firm's memory.
